Calorie Counting Automated

Posted on July 27th, 2005 by Georganna Hancock in Diet Logs, Dieting, Weight Loss

We run, bike, lift weights, and work to burn the calories, but how many do we really burn? I’ve read that it doesn’t matter if you walk a mile or run a mile, the number of calories burned is the same! How can this be? Well, the web site caloriesperhour.com has a collection of tools for helping gauge the effectiveness of your exercise program.

It’s really easy to use. Look up the exercise you’ve done, enter your height and weight and how long you worked out eh, voila, the online calculator tells you how many calories were used in that particular activity. In addition to the calorie burn, it also measures your body mass index, just how fat you are, and offers all sorts of diet and weight loss tips. You can even enter in your weight, how many pounds you want to lose and by when and it will tell you how many calories you need to cut out each day. I think I sent it into orbit with my lofty goals!

The site has loads of activities identified and calculated for energy burn, from chores like cutting the grass to cleaning the house, to waxing the car. It has every kind of recreational, fitness, or sport exercise you can imagine, too. And there’s a newsletter offered with free weekly diet and weight loss tips. Sign up here. Did I say “free”? What have you got to lose?
